Summary

edit
Description Observed (left) and simulated (right) 400 mb high-frequency eddy kinetic energy for Dec-Feb. Units are m**2 s**-2. The observations are calculated from 1-8 day high-pass filtered winds for the nine winter period starting in December 1984. The simulation comes from the solution of a linear, stochastically forced two-level model, using a basic state consisting of Dec-Feb averaged winds for the period 1984-1993.
