| Description |
English: Ex GER Holden 2-4-0 in Stratford Locomotive Yard. A strike of Fitters was in progress, leaving a large backlog of disabled locomotives at Stratford, so on that Sunday there were no less than 360 to be seen in the extensive yards of Britain's largest Locomotive Depot, which had an allocation in 1947 of 434. LNER No. 2781 (No. 7463 until 1946) is an ex-GE class T26 (LNE E4) 2-4-0, built 11/1892, withdrawn 1/56. These Victorian express engines ended their days on remote branch lines. |
