Description
עברית: ציפור גן עדן (Strelitzia reginae) הוא שמו של (פרח) נוי הנפוץ בגינות נוי. הוא גדל בטבע בדרום אפריקה. הפרחים שלו נחשבים להדורים במיוחד ומציגים אותם בהזדמנויות מיוחדות. הפרח גדל על שיח. מבנה הפרח נותן לו את שמו, עקב מראו כציפור. הגבעול עבה וארוך, מגיע עד לגובה של מטר. בראש הגבעול עלה הגביע רחב המחזיק את הפרח. העלה נראה כמו "בטן" של ציפור. מהגבעול יוצאים עלים, הדומים לעלי שיח הבננה. פרחים כמקובל ב"חד־פסיגיים באים לרוב בכפולות של שלושה עלי כותרת ושלושה אבקנים וכדומה. במקרה של ציפור גן עדן: שלושה עלי גביע הם בצבע כתום ושלושה עלי כותרת בצבע כחול נוטה לארגמן - שילוב המעניק לו את הקסם המיוחד. שני עלי כותרת כחולים מחוברים ויוצרים צורה של מניפה.
