Summary edit

Description

This is the Strokkur geyser in the Haukadalur geothermal field in Iceland. Just a few meters away is the Great Geysir (who gave its name to this type of periodically erupting hot spring), but it has ceased regular eruptions.

The Strokkur breaks out about every 10 minutes. Here it's just the beginning of an eruption. The water-level has risen and the first boiling bubble is about to burst through the surface.
