Summary edit

Description
English: Stromness Hotel and Graham Fountain The hotel was a Naval HQ in WW1 and the Military HQ for Orkney and Shetland in WW2. The hotel bar takes its name from the Flattie, the local flat-bottomed rowing boat, peculiar to Stromness. The fountain is named after Alexander Graham who won freedom for Stromness from Kirkwall taxation in 1743 - but bankrupted himself in the process.
