| Description |
English: Stroudwater Canal Looking west from the partially restored lock at Wheatenhurst. From here to Saul Junction the canal is in water and well maintained with only the lowered Walk Bridge preventing navigation. The reason it is looked after is that water from the River Frome is fed in to the canal from the adjacent weir and flood control sluices to maintain the level in the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. The water enters the canal via culverts in the right hand bank resulting in the slight turbulence just visible in the picture. |
