Summary

edit
Description A CSX intermodal is about to enter Stuart Tunnel on the Magnolia Cutoff. Built by the B&O around 1914, the Magnolia Cutoff replaced the earlier "slow route" that followed the bends in the Potomac River not only cutting down on distance traveled, but also smoothed out many steep grades. The cutoff cut straight through a number of river bends using tunnels and bridges and drastically increased speeds on this section of the former B&O main line.
