editDescriptionStuffed and mounted Waddle fan, National Mining Museum - geograph.org.uk - 924532.jpg |
English: Stuffed and mounted Waddle fan, National Mining Museum This is a modern waddle fan driven by an Electric Construction Co Ltd electric motor. Purely from memory, I believe this was of 1940s vintage and used at Wheldale Colliery. The fan was a crucial piece of colliery kit and would be duplicated and capable of reverse flow in the event of underground fires. These fans ran in the open air and some survived in to the 1980s in use. I never saw one in use. |
