Description
English: The sheath is created from two pieces, each with a buckle at the end, and several loops on the side and back for attaching it to the girdle. The front of the sheath is decorated with an arabesque leaves and tendril pattern. The blade is fixed in the wooden handle with two pins, which end in round, decorative plaques made from coins. Between the two plaques is a rhombic-shaped element on a band which closes at the back.

The back of both parts of the sheath have each an Arabic stamp with the date: nusfi 1267; nusfi means "half". This date belongs either to the reign of al-Mutawakkil "Ali (AH 1267) or al-Mansur Ahmad (AH 1266-1267).

An engraved Hebrew inscription names the silversmith: Sulayman Salih, mahasit. The term "mahasit" means "half."
