Description
English: Confiscated (before 1972; excavated by plunderers). No other statuette from the Diyala Region has this pose. A Sumerian male clutches a dagger to his chest. Early Dynastic II, c. 2600 BCE. Precise provenance unknown; late Dr. Lamia al-Gailani suggested Diyala Region (Khafajah, Tell Asmar, or Tell Agrab). On display at the Iraq Museum in Baghdad.
