English: Summit municipal authorities, working with consultants, undertook a major renovation project in the mid 2000s to widen sidewalks, add more parking spaces, improve lighting, with the aim of encouraging a more pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. After the renovation, on warm nights such as this one, people mingle outside, and some restaurants on Railroad Avenue (in photo) permit outdoor tables. (The blue ball to the middle right is the moon.) |
