Deutsch: Ein kühler Wintermorgen. Zwischen Aachen und Düsseldorf wird im rheinischen Braunkohlerevier im Tagebau Garzweiler von der Firma 'Rheinbraun' mit riesigen Schaufelradbaggern Braunkohle abgebaut. Am Horizont sieht man die Wolken, die von den Kühltürmen der nahe gelegenen Kohlekraftwerke Frimmersdorf, Neurath und Niederaußem erzeugt werden. Eine ähnliche Aufnahme am Tage.
