English: Title: Dignitaries visit Surabaya Dock of 14000 tons in the morning before launch

Description: Yard number 117, floating dry dock, built by Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (N.S.M.) for the Ministry of the Colonies. The dry dock was built on a terrain near Schellingwoude, east of the Oranje Locks.

In the morning of 7 June 1913 a group of dignitaries came to visit the dry dock. Amongst them the ministers for the Colonies and Waterstaat. The visit was described in the newspapers, and also specifically this moment, that the delegation climbs a stair on the inside of the dock in order to inspect the installations on top. After the invitees had lunched on board the saloon boat Alkmaar, the dry dock was launched in the afternoon.


Nederlands: Title:Genodigden voor de doop en tewaterlating van het Soerabajadok

Omschrijving: Bouwnummer 117, drijvend droogdok, gebouwd door de Nederlandsche Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (N.S.M.) in opdracht van het Departement van Koloniën. Het Soerabaja dok werd gebouwd op een terrein bij Schellingwoude ten oosten van de Oranjesluizen.

In de ochtend van 7 juni 1913 kwam een zware delegatie het dok bezoeken. O.a. de ministers van Koloniën en Waterstaat. Het bezoek is uitgebreid beschreven, en ook specifiek dit moment dat de genodigden een trap aan de binnenzijde van de dokwand beklimmen om de installaties bovenop te bezichtigen. Nadat de genodigden aan de boord van de salonboot Alkmaar gelunched hadden, werd het dok 's middags te water gelaten.
