English: Bio data of Sanghvi Surendra A Shah

Surendra Shah was born on 16th Feb. 1969, to Dharma Rathnakara Sanghvi S. Ajai raj Shah and Smt. Champa Shah. His father was a well known philanthropist of Tumkur. Shah is a businessman and is a distributor of consumer durables.

Mr. Shah did his schooling at St. Mary’s School and Sarvodaya high School. Shah an Engineer, completed his Mechanical Engineering from Siddaganga Inst. Of Technology, Tumkur. Shah also completed his MA (Pol. Science) from Mysore university thro’ correspondence.

A proactive child, he joined Scouting as a Cub in 1980 and went on to receive the President Scout medal from H.E. Giani Zail Singh the then president of India in 1985. He has attended many State, National & APR Jamborees. He has been the Asst Commissioner of Scouts,(1995-2012), Dist. Secretary, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Tumkur since 2012 and has served as the finance director of the State Jamboree conducted at Tumkur in Jan 1997. He attended the Centenary World Jamboree in 2007 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Great Britain and World Jamboree at Kristianstad, Sweden in 2011 as a member of the International Service Team. He is the National Exec. committee member of Association of Top Achiever Scouts (ATAS-956) in India. Shah is a national gold medalist in First Aid. He won the same in the national competition held by St.John ambulance Assn. in the year 1984.  Mr. Shah was the president of the School students union. He is the Recipient of Clifford Dotcherman Award 2011 from the International fellowship of Scouting Rotarians. This year he is leading the National Contingent of 422 Scouts & Guides to 2015 World Scout Jamboree, Japan.

Surendra A Shah has been in ROTARY since 1982, and joined as an Interactor, became the president of Interact club of Sarvodaya high School in 1984, He is the Charter president of Rotaract club of Tumkur East. He is the recipient of the Rotary International most Outstanding Rotaract project award during 1997; He was presented the award by RI president Luis Vicente giay at the RI Convention held in Glasgow, Scotland. Shah was selected by the dist 3190 as a Member of the GSE team to USA (Michigan) and Canada (Ontario) Dist 6830, during the year 1997; he was on the exchange visit for 6 Weeks.

Shah joined Rotary as a member of the Rotary Club of Tumkur East in 2000 and served the club in various capacities. Rtn. Shah founded a new Club ROTARY TUMKUR CITY with 26 members in 2009. Rtn. Shah is the Charter President of the Club. Surendra Shah is a Paul Harris Fellow. Rtn. Surendra Shah is the Recipient of the Avenues of Service Citation from RI President Ray Klinginsmith in the year 2011.

Surendra has been in the forefront of fighting for the rights of Businessmen. He has been associated with various trade organizations. He is now serving as the President of Tumkur District Chambers of Commerce & Industry. Shah has attended many Business Conferences and Seminars across the world. He is the past President of Tumkur Management Association. …2... ...2…

Shah believes in giving back to the society, as he coming from a traditional and a large family has been thought the joys of sharing with the have-nots. He has conducted numerous Scout camps, Dist. Rallies, Blood donation camps, Health checkup camps, Heart operations for the poor, Eye camps, Dental checkup camps, Jaipur foot camps, Leadership training Seminars, Vocational Training for the poor rural Youth, and the list goes on……..

Shah has also compiled a book called “Creating Leaders for Tomorrow”, a hand book on leadership qualities for the children in the age group of 14 – 17 years. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors like Dist. Rajyotsava Award, Red Cross Governor Award, Vocational service Award from Rotary Etc...

Shah along with his family organized a pilgrimage for 600 people to the various Jain Temple’s of India, by a special train for 16 days, and the Jain Association has honored him with the Title SANGHVI.

His International experience gained from trips over past many years to USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, Singapore, China and South Africa bring a International perspective to his leadership qualities and the service rendered. A resourceful person, who has always led by example, he understands the magic of delegation and empowerment to achieve greater heights, in other words a man with a vision for all, in the service of mankind.

Surendra is also serving many other organizations in various capacities, to name a few

Treasurer – Sree Mahalakshmi Temple Trust, Tumkur 5. President – Tumkur Dist. Electronics Dealers Assn. 6. Co. Convener – Junior Red Cross, Tumkur 7. Exec. Comm Member – Vidyaniketan Education Society, Tumkur.

Rtn. Shah is married to Sneha, who is the past president of the Inner wheel Club of Tumkur East. They are blessed with two Daughters, Bhavana and Namratha.
