Summary edit
DescriptionSwan Square - site of a 16th century Almshouse - geograph.org.uk - 1053594.jpg |
English: Swan Square - site of a 16th century Almshouse It was mentioned in the book by A J Parkinson - Early Buildings of Haverfordwest.
The exact position was not known but included in the book was a 1961 photograph of an old print. The almshouse was demolished in the 18th century. The cast iron telephone box on the Old Bridge is also listed as being the design of G G Scott and produced at the Saracen Foundry, Glasgow and was installed before 1952. The Poundstretcher shop is just visible on the left and is a modern monstrosity built on the site of the Swan Hotel, an old coaching house. See www.rcahmw.org.uk |
