Description
English: Swans feeding in the out-fall These mute swans are busy feeding in the disturbed water of the Severn Trent water treatment works out-fall. This clearly shows the backwash in the river as the fast flowing treated water rushes down the sluice. See 393963 for more information. Note the brown plumage of the young birds. Mute swans aren't mature until their third year and by the end of August they will have lost all the brown feathers indicating their adult status. In the meantime these "teenagers" will court and find a mate ready for breeding next year.
