Description
English: Swayambhunath (Devanagari: स्वयम्भूनाथ स्तुप; sometimes romanized Swoyambhunath) is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the w:Kathmandu Valley, west of w:Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees' (Wylie:Phags.pa Shing.kun), for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, Shing.kun may be a corruption of the local w:Nepal Bhasa name for the complex, Singgu, meaning 'self-sprung'.
English: स्यवम्भूनाथ काठमाडौं उपत्यकाको पश्चिममा अवस्थित एक प्रसिद्ध बौद्ध मन्दिर (स्तूप) हो। यसलाई महाचैत्य पनि भनिन्छ । उपत्यकामा पानी भरिएको बेलामा यहाँ बिपस्वी बुद्ध आएर तीनपल्ट वरिपरीको पहाडमा घुमेर नागार्जुनको टुप्पोमा बसि तपस्या गरेका थिए 'त्यसपछि बैशाख पूर्णिमाको दिन कमलको बीउ दक्षिण फर्कि 'मन्त्र गरि दहमा रोपेका थिए ।
