Synopsis Marco Olmo is a living legend of extreme running. He became late, when the others started to stop. In his “previous lives”, as he says, he has been a farmer, a truck driver, than a workman in his village’s cement plant. For twenty years he has worked in a quarry on his family’s land, just where there was his native house, sold before he was employed. Running has became his reason for living, the way to take revenge on his hard destiny. At the age of 60 he has became World Champion winning the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, the hardest and most important endurance race in the world, over twenty hours of uninterrupted running, 167 km (over 100 miles) around the tallest mountain in Europe. An almost unimaginable race, where mental and physical training and personal motivations are fundamental. Despite age, physical problems and always younger and more prepared opponents, he doesn’t want to stop. With his wife Renata’s help he prepares for a year, to face the new edition of the race that made him champion. This competition could become the last of his entire career. Ha lavorato per vent’anni in cava, sulla terra appartenuta alla sua famiglia, là dove c’era la casa paterna venduta prima di essere assunto. Correre è diventata la sua ragione di vita, l’unica via per riscattarsi da un destino amaro. A 60 anni è diventato Campione del Mondo vincendo l’Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, la gara di resistenza più importante e dura al mondo. 167 Km attraverso tre nazioni, oltre 21 ore di corsa ininterrotta attorno al massiccio più alto d’Europa. Uno sport ai limiti dell’immaginabile in cui la preparazione fisica, mentale e le motivazioni personali sono fondamentali. A débuté tard, à l'age où les autres arrêtaient. Dans sa “vie précédente”, il le dit, il fut fermier, routier, puis ouvrier. Courir est devenu sa raison de vivre, le moyen de se racheter d'un destin amer. A 58 ans, il est devenu Champion du monde d'Ultra Trail en remportant l'Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, la course d'endurance la plus importante et la plus difficile au monde, 167km traversant 3 pays, plus de 21 heures de course continue autour du massif le plus haut en Europe. Un sport aux limites de l'imaginable pour lequel la préparation physique, mentale et les motivations personnelles sont fondamentales. Malgré l'âge, les blessures et une saison de défaites subies d'adversaires toujours plus jeunes et préparés, il n'a aucune intention de s'arrêter. Pendant une année il se prépare pour l’Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. La course qui l'a consacré champion deux fois de suite pourrait être la dernière de sa carrière.
