Summary
editDescriptionTIX clock.jpg |
English: A TIX clock, which is a LED desktop digital clock where time (in HHMM format) is displayed via random patterns of lit LEDs. The number of active LEDs of each color has to be counted to get the corresponding digit, in this case "0 4 4 4", i.e. 04:44.
This clock (in silver or black) was avaiable at thinkgeek.com in 2006 and later.[1] The blue LEDs were brighter initially but have dimmed over time from usage, so now the red and green LEDs are more intense. Despite its brushed metal appearance, the device is mostly plastic. It is powered by 6 V AC from a power adapter, using the utility frequency to keep time. It works with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz utility frequencies, sensing the frequency automatically. The display updates every four seconds by default, but can also be set to update every second or every minute instead. The device was designed by Cube Root Labs in Sunnyvale, Ca. |
