English: TRE Radar Site C Nothing now remains in this flat brown field, but was a hive of activity in 1940 when it was part of the misnamed Telecommunications Research Establishment.
It was on Site C that experiments with 10cm radar took place. The very first echoes from 10cm radar were received back from the ancient Norman chapel and coastguard cottages at St. Albans Head (in the distance) in August 1940. |
