DescriptionTV Tower Craftwork Fair - 1.jpg |
English: A genuinely Brazilian creation: the clay filter. The invention of the filter completely changed the way we Brazilians drink water. In the country, the water was not always of good quality. It came from wells, rivers or was channeled in a rudimentary way until it reached fountains built by governments. With the creation of the filter, the water finally arrived inside the houses. The first big change happens with the arrival of Italian and Portuguese immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century. They brought filtering devices in their luggage to filter water that already existed in Europe. They were rudimentary pieces, made of porous stones that equipped vessels made of metal or stone. Among the immigrants who lived and worked in São Paulo, one day someone realized that the clay deposits in the interior of the state could provide material to good ceramic pots. And if they could make good pots, they could make filters. It worked and was an immediate success. It was pure, fresh and delicious water. |
