English: Tag der Deutschen Kunst 1939
  • Cover of a booklet commemorating the "Day of German Art" (German: Tag der Deutschen Kunst), held in Munich, Germany 14th – 16th July 1939, before the opening of the "Great German Art Exhibition" (Die Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung) in the "House of German Art" (Haus der Deutschen Kunst).
  • The colour photo on the front page shows a group of "knights" participating in the Nazi propaganda pageant called "2000 Years of German Culture" (Zweitausend Jahre deutsche Kultur). This historical fantasy parade was held during the "Day of German Art" in Munich in 1937, 1938, and 1939.
    • The riders (Reiter aus der Gruppe der 'Neuen Zeit', "Knights from the 'New Age' group") in the photograph are attired in medieval style chain mail armour and kettle helmets, seated on horses with Swastika decorated caparisons (blankets), and holding long Roman Empire style ensign staffs adorned with golden heraldic emblems and coats of arms and topped with a Nazi Reichsadler ("eagle-and-swastika" national emblem). The background of the picture depicts one of the two "Honour Temples" (Ehrentempel) that were built to commemorate the "Nazi martyrs" from Hitler's beer hall Putsch in 1923.

Publication commemorating the 1939 "Day of Gemran Art", [32] pp. and heavily illustrated, likely published in Munich following the festivities. On the cover and within are multiple illustrations of massed crowds, parades of actors in Teutonic garb, a runic swastika being paraded by young women, a Viking ship float, German art, architecture, dance, etc. with descriptive text. This was a major propaganda effort aimed not only at extolling the works of Germany's past, but also excluding "decadent" influences of the present.

  • Nazi propaganda; The Nazi ideology was antidemocratic, anti-individualistic, and racist, glorifying militarism and violence.
