English: MANY SHADES OF TAJ:
Known as the monument of love, one of the 7 wonders of world Taj Mahal is popularly known for its white marble construction and intricate stone work which is par excellence. Yet to fully appreciate its beauty an early morning visit is warranted. The air is fresh and clean, and the whole complex emanates certain stillness which evokes calmness. At sunrise one side of the building baths in the warmth of golden sun while at the same time the other reflects the cool blue crispness of the night just about to dissolve. Suddenly this pure white marble structure acquires a multi coloured, multi layered persona of complexities that demands a lifetime worth of contemplation. The magnificence of delicate work and beauty of the vision which shaped its architecture, come as a rush of emotions. The beauty of Taj lies not only in its beautiful structure and its delicate carvings. It’s an ode the genius of its architect who made the stones sing. Its white marble takes on, both literally and metaphorically, all the hues around it. It’s up to the viewer what he sees in Taj. The symbol of excellence in craftsmanship, or the love that made it possible. The vision of its builder or the oppression of artisans who, according to a popular legend, lost their hands as the reword. Is it the feat of one Sultan or the labour of love of thousands? The arrogance of a King? or longing of a man who lost his love? The white of Taj Mahal will reflect all the hues around it, from white serene moonlight to yellow stains of pollution. The question is what we make of it. This shot was taken on cool crisp April morning, using a symmetrical composition and natural hues reflected off the building, to create interest. Still giving the feel of its solidity and magnificence, against tiny tourists in the middle ground, while natural leading lines add depth. The imperfect reflection provides an added element of interest. The post processing is restricted to Lightroom. Including cropping and transform, global adjustments to exposure, contrast, clarity, saturation etc, and little doge and burn to enhance details.
