http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%8B%93%E7%9C%9F%E9%A4%A8#.E6.8B.93.E7.9C.9F.E9.A4.A8 前田真三が美瑛の丘での撮影活動中、1978年に、美瑛町拓進にある旧千代田小学校跡地に初めて訪れた。この小学校は1971年に廃校となって以来放置され、校庭は荒れ放題、校舎も屋根がめくれ、床は雨漏りで波打っているような状態であった。 1985年に、前田真三が美瑛町役場の人と会食する機会があり、その席上、旧千代田小学校跡地が放置されていることについて役場の人に問うと、当時の都市計画課長より「何か良い利用方法がありますか？」と逆に問われた。その場で冗談半分に「写真ギャラリーでもやってみようか」と答えたところ、翌年、美瑛町長はじめ町役場の支援により、写真ギャラリーとしての再生が実現する運びとなった。 写真ギャラリーは旧千代田小学校の体育館と教室を活用し、1987年7月10日に開館。地名である拓進と、真三、写真の「真」にちなんで「拓真館」と名付けられた。写真ギャラリーとして作品を常設展示、ビデオ作品を上映すると共に、撮影拠点ともした。 |
