Description: Scrapbook page consists of one photogrpaph of a child riding a buffalo in front of a Tamarisk tree. The annotations included on this page provides details about the Tamarisk tree as well as the Egyptian buffalo. Transcription: "The Tamarisk tree approaches nearest to ability to support itself without mans aid in Egypt. It is a tree which drinks very little and takes a great deal of killing- One sees it growing as a stunted shrub in the nitre encrusted depressions in the neighborhood of Ismalia and elsewhere- Whenever it can get the little moisture with which it is satisfied it becomes a graceful tree." F. F. Zinke. ; The Egyptian Buffalo is an animal valuable for its hardiness and strength but consipcuous for its ugliness. It has a hairless slate coloured carcase.
