Summary edit

Description
English: This is a standing figure of a Tang dynasty lady.

Women's clothing had a tendency to be more open in the Sui and Tang dynasties. Small-sleeved coats, typically made of yarn, were often worn with skirts that were long, wide and long. The part of their body above their breasts may be naked. They were also wearing skirts and short or long-sleeved tops.

The hairstyle and dress reflects on the trend of fashion at the time when Tang dynasty was heavily influenced by Turfan, central Asia. Woman’s dress favoured long pleated skirts, round necks, narrow sleeves and a stole. The coiffure with two top knot is also exotic but it also has a symbolic meaning of the lady being married.
