View of the beer taps at McGivney’s in Mendenhall Mall in Juneau, Alaska, when I visited in July 2014. Given that there are few other pubs in north Juneau (downtown being more than 10 miles away) I decided to pay this almost unrated place a visit. From the outside it looked like a regular American sports bar and that is exactly what it is. I found a spot at the bar, with televisions, hanging on all four walls, blaring out sports results, hardly making it above the general noise. The bar offered 8 beers on tap, including the obvious Bud Light, Stella and Guinness, but they had a few craft beers too, from Ninkasi, Alaskan and Elysian. No bottles though, so selection was very limited. Overall this is not a place worth going to, unless A) You care deeply for sports or B) You happen to be in the area with no means of getting to downtown Juneau. |
