Deutsch: Bronzeplatte an der Nikolausbasilika in Bari mit der Freundschaftsadresse Putins in Italienisch und Russisch. Der Text lautet übersetzt:

„Der Präsident der Russischen Föderation
an die Bürger von Bari
Liebe Bürger von Bari,
ich freue mich über die Möglichkeit, die Bewohner der alten italienischen Stadt Bari herzlich zu grüßen. Ich tue das besonders gern, da euer Land und Russland durch Bande einer vielhundertjährigen Geschichte vereint sind. Als Geschenk an eure Stadt, die diesen großen und heiligen Schatz bewahrt, die Reliquien des heiligen Nikolaus, des Erzbischofs von Myra in Lykien, übergeben wir eine Statue dieses heiligen Wundertäters.
Der heilige Bischof Nikolaus ist einer der meistverehrten Heiligen. Aber gerade in Russland genießt er besondere Verehrung. Dem heiligen Nikolaus sind die Altäre vieler russischer Kirchen geweiht.
Möge dieses Geschenk ein Zeugnis sein nicht nur für die Verehrung des großen Heiligen durch die Russen, sondern auch für das ständige Bestreben der Völker unserer Länder, ihre Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit zu festigen.
