English: Statue of Telesphorus, a Celto-Greek god, disovered in Moulézan in 1884. Now exhibited in the Musée Archéologique de Nîmes.

Statuette découverte en 1884 à Moulézan (Gard). Calcaire de Lens. Vêtu à la manière gauloise d'un long manteau à capuche, le petit dieu, sculpté dans un matériau local présente un style relativement fruste. Rarement figuré dans le sud de la Gaule, le personnage de Télesphore demeure assez énigmatique. Fils d'Asclépios, il a certainement un lien avec le monde de la médecine car on le trouve associé à Hygie. Il appartiendrait au panthéon celtique et aurait été diffusé en Orient par les Galates d'Asie mineure, puis se serait répandu en Occident à la faveur de l'expansion romaine, plus particulièrement à partir du règne d'Hadrien.
