Description

A photograph of the Teresita Sandoval Statue at the El Pueblo Museum in Pueblo, Colorado. This statue honors Teresita Sandoval’s contributions towards Pueblo. Sandoval was one of the early pioneers who helped Pueblo get its start. Born in Taos, New Mexico, Teresita migrated in 1841 to the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek confluence, where the El Pueblo Fort was being built. For some time, Teresita managed the fort while trappers, traders, farmers, ranchers and Native Americans all met to perform business there.
