Description
English: At the grave of Alcetas. He was an infantry-general who’s brother, Perdiccas, figured in wars that broke out after the death of Alexander the Great (Wars of the Diadochi). This brother was murdered by this officers at the river Nile, and Alcetas was declared an outlaw. He had escaped with his troops to Termessos, and though there was disagreement between younger and elder factions if handing him over to Antigonus was acceptable he committed suicide. The youngers’ faction put him in a grave within the city. It has been damaged by grave robbers and treasure hunters (and the fools who will scratch their gibberish on every spot most people consider a treasure), some parts remain.

I have never been quite satisfied with the colours of my pictures here. I tried manual correcting when at the spot for a second time, a year after a first attempt. One problem is that the stone has a strong blue hue, but not everywhere to the same extent. And as the monument is in the shadow, which brings more blue, and as the weather was overcast on one occasion I found it extremely hard going. If you check on the web, you can see all sorts of variation, compared to those some of those I think most of my pictures are acceptable.
