Description
English: Tettersell Tomb, St Nicholas' parish churchyard, Brighton, Sussex. Containing the grave of Nicholas (d.1674), his wife Susanna (d.1679), their son, Nicholas (d.1676) and his son, Nicholas (d.1701). The first Nicholas is chiefly noted as the captain of the brig Surprise, which took the outlawed Charles Stuart to France in the wake of the Battle of Worcester in 1651. Tettersell was honoured for his role upon the Restoration in 1660 and in the last years of his life was the High Constable of Brighton.
