Summary
editDescriptionThailand-Cambodia (MODIS 2018-11-05).jpg |
English: On November 1, 2018, NASA’s Aqua satellite passed over Southeast Asia, allowing the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) to acquire a true-color image of Thailand (west) and Cambodia (east).
The landscape of the two countries is varied – from mountains, to high plateau, to low-land rice paddies and the broad Mekong River Delta. The largest city and the capital of Thailand is Bangkok, which sits on the delta of the Chao Phraya River and just north of the Gulf of Thailand. In this image, the large city can be seen as gray pixels on the shores of the Gulf, in the west section of the image. Cambodia’s major city, Phnom Penh, can be seen as a gray area where the waters of the large lake, Tonle Sap, meets the muddy Mekong River, near the lower right edge of the image. |
