Summary edit

Description
English: Thames sailing barge 'Melissa' Built in 1899 at Southampton by boat company Fay for London-based EJ and W Goldsmith, this steel-hulled barge was used extensively for trading until the mid 1970s, when she was brought to Suffolk and converted to a house boat. In 1994 it was bought by the Webb family of Pin Mill. Work continued over the intervening years to prepare this magnificent vessel for sea again. In July this year it sailed again and entered the annual Pin Mill Sailing Club Barge Match where it won Class A as well as the overall champion pennant. Here it is viewed exiting the River Stour, with container cranes at Parkeston Quay visible in the background.
