For the record the proposed 37-storey "Aurora" was refused planning permission on the grounds that "the development of a 37 storey building at this particular location is inappropriate in its local context in terms of design and character and out of scale with its surroundings. It also is of the view that the scheme as proposed is contrary to Planning Policy Statement 7: Quality Residential Developments as it does not represent a sustainable and quality residential development and is considered to be an overdevelopment of the site which is out of character and out of scale with its surroundings". In the meantime there is to be a review of the system "Now we are in a different period and people are looking to maximise land use. Tall buildings are acceptable but not in all locations. As a consequence we are drawing up a policy paper on tall buildings to give guidance to the planning office so it makes decisions that are less ad hoc".

The site is now a temporary car park.
