Summary
editDescriptionThe Altar Window.jpg |
English: The window over the altar memorializes Margaret Brown, who died in 1907 at the age of 15 at the Hotel Gramatan across the street from the church. The window was given by her father, W. Harry Brown, in gratitude for the kindness of the rector, the Rev. Albert Wilison, who visited the young woman often. It was made for the original Christ Church by the English firm of Heaton, Butler and Bayne
and enlarged by them in 1926 to fit its present setting. The subject of the window is Christ blessing the children. The red-robed figure of Christ, standing on a slight elevation, dominates the window. On his right arm he holds a baby; his left hand rests in blessing on the head of a child. In each of the three lancets, mothers and children look lovingly toward Jesus. Above, heavenly musicians playing medieval instruments praise God. |
