Summary edit
DescriptionThe Barley Mow, Penn Common, Staffordshire - geograph.org.uk - 1091063.jpg |
English: The Barley Mow, Penn Common, Staffordshire The main part pub is pre 1600 and very small, with low ceilings and beams (definitely a mind-your-head situation if you are 5'6" - 1.7m plus!). The part with the pub name is a 1990s add-on. The brick structure on the right is the outside toilets. The brick monstrosity abutting the left end is a 1960s(?) golf club add-on. Before the advent of the smoking marquee, drinking here in the evenings, especially at weekends was a very smoky and smelly experience - we could expect our clothes to reek for days. A good real ale selection is available, and good food.
It is unusual to find this pub with no vehicles obscuring the view. Christmas Day 2008, 11.52 GMT. |
