English: The Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas - St. George's Chapel - the Hall monument The monument was erected by Sir Alexander Hall in memory of his father William Hall (died 1631) and mother Jane (died 1613). It is in the attractive Renaissance style popular at the time and shows the figures of William and Jane in the usual posture - kneeling before a prayer desk - and, below, the smaller figures of their only son Alexander and his five sisters. {Source: Guide to The Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne. } |
