| Description |
English: This building is covered by a golden dome, and it was called the Dome of the Rock in relation to the rock that embraces it and from which the Prophet, may the prayers and peace be upon him, ascended. It was built in the year 72 AH, but during the reign of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, when he conquered Jerusalem, he built a wooden structure around the honorable rock, and the building and decoration developed during the era of the Umayyad Caliphate. Because Sham was their capital and Jerusalem was very close to it.
العربية: ذلك البناء الذي يغطيه قبة ذهبية اللون، وتمّ تسميتها بقبة الصّخرة نسبة إلى الصّخرة التي تحتضنها والتي عرج منها النّبي عليه الصّلاة والسّلام، حيث يرجع تاريخ بناء هذه القبة في عهد الخليفة الأموي عبدالملك بن مروان عام 66 هجرياً واستمر بناؤها لمدّة سبع سنوات أي تمّ الانتهاء من بنائها في عام 72هجرياً، ولكن في عهد عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه عندما فتح القدس بنى بناءً خشبياً حول الصّخرة المشرفة، وتطوّر البناء والزّخرفة في عهد الخلافة الأموية؛ لأنّ الشّام كانت عاصمتهم والقدس قريبة جداً منها. |
