Description

A previous owner of the property (Carl Schoof) is said to have lived on this historic old dredge which he towed into a small inlet (that he then closed off so it became a pond) and it can still be seen here floating in its own little lake.

Unfortunately, some years before the property could be de-toxified and reclaimed for public open space, the dredge burned down and was lost to history.

In this picture one can also see Schoof's chicken coop (near middle top) and "the bridge to nowhere" (top left corner). Both of these were removed when the property was finally cleaned up and restored for public access in July 2012. This picture was taken in July 2007.
