A spokesman went on to warn of the hazards caused by decreasing seasonal daylight and a greater chance of encountering wet and slippery road surfaces. A van and a bus that was carrying 27 students from w:County Mayo to w:Limerick skidded on ground water crashed at Glenafosha outside w:Tuam just after 7.30pm, killing both drivers and injuring 12 of the students. A Brazilian man from the Irish Midlands region drowned in a car accident that morning on the w:Offaly/w:Westmeath border. His car skidded off the road between w:Rhode and w:Rochfortbridge, the vehicle hit a roadside bank and rolled on its roof into the flood-swollen water of the w:River Monagh on the 8th[2][3][4]. Because he died on the border and it was not define which side he was on, I coluord in both Westmeath and Offaly.

• The woman died in w:Pinderfields Hospital, after being impaled by tree branch as winds up to 90 mph hit w:Pontefract at 20.30 on the 11th, w:West Yorkshire Police said the woman. A man who was driving the car was also hurt in the incident at about 8.30pm last night.[5][6][7].
• A womwn died when a branch fell down and crushed her car in w:Wakefield during the morning of the 12th[8].
• The earning of the 26th of November saw a woman die in a vehicle collision on the A394 road in west w:Cornwall. A 4 vehicle pile-up on the M1 near Sheffield, during horrendous weather left 2 people injured and in need of hospital treatment.[9]
• A man died when a recovery vehicle slipped on an icy road in w:South Yorkshire on the 29th [10].
• A man died on the 27th, in at w:Lancaster Hospital, after jumping into w:River Lune at w:Halton to save his w:springer spaniel dog earlier in the November day [11][12]
• A road crash on an icy road in w:Erdington, w:Birmingham killed a w:cyclist that morning of November 27th [13][14]
• Across w:York City and w:North Yorkshire, around 50 schools were forced to shut, with several schools in w:East Yorkshire also closed for the day. A tramp was reported to have frozen to death in w:Leeds on the 28th.[15][16](dead link).

• On the 2nd elderly man was found dead in his garden in w:Kirby Stephen in w:Cumbria [19][20][21][22].
• 2 teenage girls died on the 2nd when their car skidded in to a w:Royal Mail van in Carlisle, w:Cumbria according to the UK’s ‘Daily Express’ newspaper’s December 4th edition.
• A 80 year old Cumbiran woman was found dead in her garden [23][24] [25][26]. A w:Derry vagrent was found dead in his box in an abandoned w:Derry building on the 3rd. He was known by locals as a bit of an eccentric and a w:recluse [27](dead link).
• An old man died in w:Barnsley after teenagers taunted him and pushed his car into a snow clogged road. A motorist was run down as he helped a stranded driver in w:Bellerby, w:North Yorkshire according to the UK’s ‘Daily Express’ newspaper’s December 4th edition.
