Summary
editDescriptionThe Fair Maid's House - geograph.org.uk - 1128993.jpg |
English: The Fair Maid's House This featured in Sir Walter Scott's novel, "The Fair Maid of Perth" as the home of Catharine Glover, 'the most beautiful young woman of the city or the vicinity'. She was named from the trade she practised and indeed the house was used by the Guild of Glovers from 1629-1800. However the story is set around the 1390's and includes the story of the famous battle of the North Inch in 1396 when Clan Chattan and Clan Kay met in battle to settle a quarrel. Most unlikely this building was then built. It is now a craft shop. |
