Description

Tall Ships Races - Dublin 2012: I got up early this morning thinking that being early I would secure a good location on the north wall from which to photograph the tall ships as they left Dublin but unfortunately nearly everyone else in Dublin had the same idea. Also according to the schedule that I had received the ships were to leave over a period of time extending from 11:00 to 16:00 but the last of the ships was gone by about 12:30. The good news was that it did not rain.

Once the ships passed the Poolbeg Lighthouse they proceed on a course heading for Dun Laoghaire Harbour. When the fleet arrived off Howth Peninsula, they divided into two, as 11 tallships formed a smaller fleet which are to take part in the inaugural Irish Sea Tall Ships Regatta. This new event sees these tallships racing between Dublin to Liverpool.
