English: The "John Williams"... entering the Bay of Huahine, one of the Society Islands, painted by R. B. Spencer active 1845-1876, from an engraving by E. Duncan, in turn taken from a painting by William John Huggins, after a sketch by Capt R. J. Elliot R.N.

Inscription on the original engraved printː To the Directors of the London Missionary Society. This engraving of their new ship the John Williams purchased and equipped from a fund raised by the juvenile friends of that institution, is by special permission most respectfully dedicated. This beautiful Missionary Ship, commanded by Captain Morgan is represented entering the bay of Huahine, one of the Society Islands in the South Pacific Ocean. From a sketch by Captain R. J. Elliot, R.N. The scene also includes the village of Fare, missionary station, and harbour, with the Society's former ship Camden, lying at anchor. The John Williams was built at the Royal Navy Yard, Harwich and completed in the most efficient manner for the interesting Service in which she is employed, was launched on the 20th March 1844 and sailed from London on the 5th June following - her dimensions are length 109 feet 8 inches. Depth 16 feet. Admeasuring 296 ... Tons. Published 1st February 1846
