Description
English: One can definitely never ignore Lake Saif-ul-Muluk's legend when one talks about the natural beauty of Northern Pakistan.Situated in the province of Khyber Pukhtoon Khwa, this lake rests 10,578 feet high from the sea level atop the alluring Naraa'n Valley of Pakistan.Saif ul Muluk was formed by glacial moraines that hindered the water passage through the valley .The journey to the lake is as adventurous as the lake itself. The journey however comprises of hiring several local jeeps to climb to the required height. The jeeps are the only major sources of reaching the tourist attraction and it serves as a major source of income for the locals as well. The roads to the lake are , however, under development and the path comprises of breathtaking glaciers surrounded by high mountains at every side . The lake itself remains frozen almost 80% of the year with it slightly melting at surface levels during the months of June and July. The temperature is pleasantly below 9'C in summers and reaches negative levels during Winters. The lakes rests in the middle of chocolate brown ,snow covered mountains.Mysteriously, the water of the lake has an indefinite depth which has not been deciphered yet.The turquoise color of the water is donated due to the presence of blue-green algae.Brown trouts and 25 species of vascular plants exist in the area .The legends of the civilization suggest of fair folk creatures like faeries visiting the place during the late hours of night as their secret abode.Perhaps, this inspired several poets and writers to produce folk literature comprising of romance between faeries and humans within the boundaries of this lake .The evidences includes, the tale of 'Saif ul Muluk' written by sufi poet ,'Mian Mohammad Bakhsh' and also another by Ahmad Hussain Mujahid as a story in prose attaining the same title. Truly, regardless of all the relating legends , the lake and its beauty itself are a major tourist attraction in Pakistan and a must-visit for the adventurous tourists out there .
