『安井仲治写真集』(共同通信社、2004年刊) によると、1937年1月に大阪朝日会館で新協劇団によって公演された演劇『どん底』(原作・ゴーリキー、演出・村上知義) に合わせて行った撮影会での写真。関西のアマチュア写真家たち (ハナヤ勘兵衛、紅谷吉之助ら) も参加して撮影した。
