Summary
editDescriptionThe MV 'Balmoral' at Bangor - geograph.org.uk - 1441596.jpg |
English: The MV 'Balmoral' at Bangor. The preserved motor vessel 'Balmoral' at Bangor harbour.
The boat was built by J I Thornycroft at Woolston, Southampton, in 1949, first operating on the Southampton-Cowes ferry route. After a varied operational life, the boat ended up with Waverley Excursions http://www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk/ who now operate the boat on pleasure cruises in the Bristol Channel with annual excursions around the UK and Ireland, as well as occasional trips as far afield as France and The Netherlands. The Balmoral arrived at Bangor for a number of pleasure cruises in and around Belfast Lough for the Tall Ships 2009 festival. See also 463665 for a view of the sister ship 'Waverley'. |
