DescriptionThe Mick Ronson Memorial - geograph.org.uk - 519001.jpg |
English: The Mick Ronson Memorial The Mick Ronson Memorial Stage in Queen's Gardens, Hull, erected in memory of the former mechanic and council park gardener turned minor rock god. Mick Ronson was born on Beverley Road, Hull in 1946 and grew up on Hull's Greatfield Estate. He became well known as a musician, arranger and producer and is perhaps best remembered as the guitarist in David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars'. He died of liver cancer on 29 April 1993 aged 46.
The small, outdoor stage and refreshment hut close to Hull College have become a popular meeting place for teenagers in recent years. There's usually a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere here - only a few yards away from the entrance to the city's central police station. |
