Description
English: After Dembiński's failure in the Battle of Kápolna, he was replaced by a revolt of the Hungarian generals. Kossuth named Lieutenant General Antal Vetter the new commander. This started a Hungarian attack on 16 March, crossing the Tisza, but the next day he retreated back to the left bank of the river. The main events happened in Transylvania, where General Bem outsmarted Puchner, and occupied behind his back the Austrian headquarters Nagyszeben, defeating the Austrian and Russian troops defending the city. After this Hungarian victory, the still superior imperial and royal and Russian forces were forces to retreat to Wallachia, and Bem liberated Southern Transylvania.
