DescriptionThe Muse Clio in the woods at Worlaby - geograph.org.uk - 1442419.jpg |
English: The Muse Clio in the woods at Worlaby An attached tablet states "The statue "Cleo" was created by Ernie Kay of Bonby (1935-2004) and was brought to Worlaby on New Years Eve 1999. A time-capsule containing information about the village and its residents was concreted into the base at exactly midnight to celebrate the new millennium. The statue, modelled on Ernie's granddaughter Sarah, represents two women from Greek mythology: Cleo, the muse of history, and Andromeda, who having been chained to the rocks as a sacrifice, was rescued by the ever-valiant Perseus who killed the sea monster with one strike of his sword and released the maiden." |
